At the meeting, President Osmani emphasized that Bulgaria has been a steadfast supporter of Kosovo in its efforts for membership in international organizations. In this context, Kosovo’s aspirations for NATO membership and the continuous support from our Bulgarian partners were also discussed. President Osmani stressed that Croatia is one of Kosovo’s key allies in the region and among the main supporters in our Euro-Atlantic journey. The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, traveled to Washington D.C. at the invitation of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to participate in an event organized by the U.S. Department of State for Women, Peace, and Security, held within the framework of the NATO Summit commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the military organization. President Osmani expressed her appreciation for Secretary Blinken’s invitation and emphasized the significance of Kosovo’s participation in such activities, as it marks the first time Kosovo has been involved in events within the NATO summit. This enables the establishment of new partnerships as Kosovo progresses towards NATO membership. Kosovo’s participation in the event organized by Secretary Blinken, focusing on the Agenda for Women, Peace, and Security, is a strong indication of the increasing role Kosovo is playing in advancing this agenda globally and its commitment to the principles and values supported by NATO. During her stay in Washington D.C., President Osmani will also participate in other activities and meetings focused on strengthening cooperation to contribute to peace and security in our region and beyond. It is worth noting that the Office of the President was selected among three global partners by Secretary Blinken’s Office to establish the Regional Center of Excellence for Women, Peace, and Security. The agreement to establish this Center was signed by President Osmani and Secretary Blinken’s Office in April 2024, during the Women, Peace, and Security Forum. The NATO summit in Washington D.C. serves as a platform for member states and partner states to cooperate on pressing global security issues and reaffirm their commitment to a safer future.

Today, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, hosted in a meeting the Special Envoy of Slovenia for the Western Balkans, Anžej Frangeš. During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in the country and the region, the dialogue with Serbia, and the bilateral relations between Kosovo and Slovenia. President Osmani emphasized once again that Slovenia is a friend and strong ally of Kosovo, so she expressed her gratitude for Slovenia’s continuous support in strengthening Kosovo’s international position. In light of this, President Osmani mentioned the need for the continuation of Slovenian support for membership in the EU, NATO, and international organizations.

Today, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, hosted in a meeting the new Head of UNICEF in Kosovo, Veronika Vashchenko, whom she congratulated on her position, and wished for continued constructive cooperation together. The meeting discussed the continuation of cooperation and the importance of efforts to improve the well-being and development of children in Kosovo. President Osmani emphasized that the partnership with UNICEF is important for the implementation of programs and policies that support the comprehensive development and protection of children. In this context, President Osmani pointed out the efforts for children’s access to quality education and the strengthening of their well-being. During the meeting, they particularly discussed projects in support of early childhood education, support of children with special needs, and the impact of climate change on children’s health. President Osmani, among other things, in this meeting laid out the need to implement programs focused on children and the promotion of gender equality in all sectors.
