It was a pleasure to meet today with Republican Senator Thom Tillis with whom we discussed the latest security developments in Kosovo and in the Western Balkans, as well as the importance of cooperation towards maintaining peace and security in our region. Sustainable peace and security are a prerequisite for prosperity and development. The US has been and remains committed to helping preserve and advance them in Kosovo.

President Osmani at the Consultative Council for Communities: Protection, security and dignity of every individual are priorities
The Consultative Council for Communities, under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, held the constitutive meeting of the new composition. According to President Osmani, the Consultative Council for Communities is proof of Kosovo’s dedication to building a just, equal and inclusive society for all citizens. In her address, President Osmani emphasized her unwavering commitment to ensuring that every citizen – regardless of ethnicity, religion or language – feels valued and an active part of Kosovar society. President Osmani highlighted the main achievements of this Council throughout this year, offering her full support in fulfillment of its objectives. President Osmani also reaffirmed the Presidency’s priority to protect the security and dignity of every individual, ensuring that no citizen is marginalized or discriminated against. “A safe Kosovo for our children in a world where security is increasingly threatened by dark and destabilizing forces is a goal that unites us all. For the Presidency, this is a priority and a daily commitment. We must move confidently towards integration, both within the country and in Euro-Atlantic processes,” President Osmani emphasized. At the end of her address, Madam President underlined that empowering communities is an institutional responsibility and a rightful engagements that empowers our state.
The Regional Center of Excellence for Women, Peace and Security in Kosovo held a one-day workshop focusing on advancing the participation and role of women in military structures and the defense sector
The Regional Center of Excellence for Women, Peace and Security in Kosovo, established by the Office of the President of the Republic of Kosovo, organized a one-day workshop on the topic: “Advancing the representation and role of women in the military: A step towards greater gender equality, peace and security”. This workshop was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kosovo, as well as in coordination with the NATO Advisory and Liaison Team. In the first session, the participants were welcomed by President Osmani, Minister Maqedonci and Brigadier General Nawrat, who emphasized the importance of women’s inclusion in peace and security processes, as well as in military structures and the defense sector. As part of this event, a panel discussion “Breaking Barriers: Increasing the Participation and Role of Women in the Army” was also organized, where special emphasis was placed on the personal journey of each panelist, but also on the presentation of the structures and policies within the institutions they represent in order to advance gender equality. After this discussion, a case study was presented, that of Albania as a member of NATO, and their journey towards increasing the participation and role of women in the army. The second part of the day focused on group work, where participants identified recommendations and necessary actions on new recruitment strategies and retention of personnel and elimination of prejudice and stereotypes against women. Based on these discussions, the Regional Center of Excellence for Women, Peace and Security in Kosovo will compile a report which will be made available to the entire public.
The Council for Democracy under the leadership of President Osmani discussed mental health
Under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, the Council for Democracy held a meeting in which the issue of mental health was addressed. The meeting brought together representatives of institutions, civil society organizations dealing with mental health and other stakeholders related to this topic. The Presidency reaffirmed its continued support for associations and organizations focusing on mental health issues, recognizing their indispensable role in providing care, advocacy and awareness.
