The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received the US Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Richard R. Verma. The unwavering alliance between Kosovo and the United States of America was reaffirmed and ways to deepen strategic cooperation between the two countries were discussed at the meeting. President Osmani expressed deep gratitude for the US’s continued and bipartisan support for Kosovo, emphasizing Washington’s crucial role in our traversing towards freedom, independence and the strengthening of democratic institutions. In this context, President Osmani reiterated the proposal she has made to the US, since 2021, for a strategic dialogue between Kosovo and the US, as a platform that would serve to strengthen cooperation in areas of strategic and mutual interest. In this regard, Deputy Secretary Verma gave President Osmani the excellent news that the agreement for strategic dialogue between our countries will be finalized soon and it was agreed that our teams will work intensively in the coming days regarding this process. Both sides agreed to continue close cooperation to advance common interests and strengthen the partnership between Kosovo and the United States of America. Kosovo’s commitment to rule of law reforms, advancing good governance, and promoting a sustainable environment for investment and economic development were also issues discussed at the meeting President Osmani and Secretary Verma also spoke about Kosovo’s contribution to international affairs, including hosting Afghan citizens, supporting Ukraine, and continuing engagement in promoting global peace and security.

President Osmani commemorated the Hero of Kosovo, Colonel Tahir Zemaj, on the 22nd anniversary of his assassination

On the 22nd anniversary of his assassination, we humbly commemorate the Hero of Kosovo, Colonel Tahir Zemaj, a KLA soldier and one of the most prominent figures of the struggle for freedom. 22 years ago, he was treacherously murdered just outside Peja, along with his son Enis and his cousin Hasan. The murderers, who left behind tragedy and pain, have still not been punished. This is a suffering which cannot be hidden, a wound that is still open. The acts of Colonel Tahir Zemaj, as an indomitable and courageous leader, continue to inspire generation after generation. The Colonel’s name will always be a symbol of sacrifice and the fight for freedom and independence, and for this reason finding the perpetrators of the murder and bringing them to justice are essential. Eternal honour to Colonel Tahir Zemaj, Enis and Hasan!
