Today, we remember with respect, the extraordinary brave man and leader, who always stood firm for the cause of freedom and state. As one of the first pillars of the Kosovo Liberation Army, he believed in, fought and fell for freedom. During every step of his journey, Ilaz was more than a commander, an inspiration, a symbol of boundless courage and sacrifice. With the calmness and strength that characterized him, he led the ranks of the KLA, in the first stages of organization and combat actions. But on April 30, 1999, his heroism reached its peak when he fell in the battle of Shtutica, becoming a permanent guardian of freedom and our Republic. His fall was a loss for all, but his legacy is an inspiration for generations. May the memory of the hero Ilaz Kodra be eternal!

President Osmani received the DUI Chairman, Mr. Ali Ahmeti

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today the Chairman of the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI), Mr. Ali Ahmeti, accompanied by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani, and the Secretary for Gender Equality, Arta Bilalli-Zendeli. During the meeting, current political developments in Kosovo and the region were discussed, with particular emphasis on the importance of strengthening cooperation between Kosovo institutions and Albanian political representatives in North Macedonia. President Osmani emphasized that Albanians in North Macedonia are an essential factor for the stability and integration of this state. As she has stated before, President Osmani reiterated that Albanians are a constitutive nation in North Macedonia and a decisive force that has led the country towards Euro-Atlantic integration. Therefore, any tendency to violate the Ohrid Agreement regarding the already acquired and confirmed rights of Albanians in the RNM must be resolutely opposed by all Albanians in the RNM, as well as the entire Albanian factor in the region. In this context, she reconfirmed the commitment of the Republic of Kosovo to expand cooperation with all powers working in the service of peace, stability and the Euro-Atlantic perspective of the entire region.

President Osmani received the German Ambassador Jörn Rohde

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today the German Ambassador to Kosovo, Mr. Jörn Rohde. The latest political events in the country, including developments in terms of institutional consolidation, as well as the importance of maintaining stability and democratic functionality were discussed at the meeting. President Osmani and Ambassador Rohde also discussed the formation of the new German government, with President Osmani expressing her belief that Germany’s commitment to Kosovo and the Western Balkans region will remain a priority of this new political chapter in Berlin. The importance of further expansion of bilateral relations between Kosovo and Germany was emphasized and President Osmani also praised Germany’s role as a strong supporter of Kosovo’s European perspective and stressed the necessity for this support to continue within the framework of EU institutions. Part of the discussion was also dedicated to this year’s edition of the Forum on Women, Peace and Security, which will be held in Prishtina, as well as regular cooperation towards advancement of this agenda.

This refusal is a daily repetition of the crime, not only against the victims, but also against their families and against all of Kosovo. Therefore, our fight for justice will never stop. We remember with honor and demand justice with determination.

On this painful anniversary, we remember with deep piety 376 innocent civilians, men, women and children, who were cruelly massacred by the criminal forces of the Serbian genocidal regime, while many of them remain missing to this day. This macabre crime, like many others throughout Kosovo, continues to remain unpunished, aggravating the open wounds of the families and all of our people. President Vjosa Osmani, on behalf of the Republic and people of Kosovo, reaffirms her unwavering commitment to justice, to persistently seek to clarify the fate of those who are forcibly disappeared and to punish the perpetrators of these crimes.
