President Jahjaga received a delegation from the United Arab Emirates

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting a delegation from United Arab Emirates, led by Maitha Al Shamsi, Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates and Dr. Mata Barakat, Director of the Abu Dhabi Health Authority.

At a very cordial meeting, President Jahjaga discussed with the Emirati delegation the donation of over 22 million Euros for the building of a new Paediatric-Surgical Hospital within the auspices of the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo, agreement upon which has been signed earlier this year.

At a statement issued after the meeting, President Jahjaga said:

I have a particular pleasure today to, together with our friends from United Arab Emirates officially commence the planning for the building of the paediatric centre, donated by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak to the children of the Republic of Kosovo. This is the beginning of the enlivening of the paediatric clinic which will help us enliven the dream of or families and our generation to look after the children of Kosovo, to raise a healthy young generation.

For the citizens of Kosovo, building of the Paediatric-Surgical Clinic is an exceptional help. This hospital fulfils the emergent need for improvement of the healthcare for children of Kosovo and generally represents and improvement of the quality of life and wellbeing of our families. The clinic will be based here, within the grounds of the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo, between the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Clinic and the old building of the Paediatric Clinic, which will symbolically link the care for mothers and children.

The new clinic, which is expected to be completed within a calendar year, costing around 22 million Euros, will include neonatal care, orthopaedic, neurology, urology, endocrinology, cardiology, oncology, haematology and emergent medicine services.

On behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo and on my personal behalf, I express my cordial gratuity to Her Highness, Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak for her humanity and generosity, in donating of this health care opportunity for the children and families of Kosovo and beyond.

I am very proud of the friendship between our two countries- which has commenced in the difficult days of Kosovo- which is today being sealed with this paediatric clinic, which will carry with pride the name of Sheikh Fatima, as a proof of the viability of our excellent relations which we will continue to advance even further.

After the meeting, President Jahjaga and the delegation of the United Arab Emirates visited the site where the new Paediatric-Surgical Hospital will be built in Prishtina.
