The President: Zahir, Edmond and Hakif were the heralds of our freedom

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani – Sadriu accompanied by the Prime Minister Albin Kurti, paid homage and laid a wreath at the statues of heroes Zahir Pajaziti, Hakif Zejnullahu, Edmond Hoxha and Ilir Konushevci.

President Osmani said that today, on the anniversary of the assassination of the heroes Zahir Pajaziti, Edmond Hoxha and Hakif Zejnullahu, we are here together with the Prime Minister, the Mayor and fellow associates to express our highest respects for the activities, work and sacrifice that these heroes have carried out for the freedom of Kosovo.

“Zahiri and his friends were vanguards of the KLA, they were the heralds of our freedom. It was exactly their commitment and then their fall for the freedom of Kosovo in an ambush that later inspired thousands of men and women to join the liberation war that at the end culminated with the liberation of our country “, said President Osmani.

President Osmani emphasized that this inspiration did not end in 1999 with the liberation of our country but it also continues today, and because of their work, engagements and sacrifice and their liberation war they will remain the guide of generations that will come after us.

“May the memory of them be eternal because they will continue to live in the hearts and minds of all citizens of Kosovo who today enjoy freedom because of the sacrifice of Zahir, Edmond, Hakif and many, many girls and boys who fell for the freedom of Kosovo, ” stated the President.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Albin Kurti said that Commander Zahir Pajaziti was among the forerunners of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

“He, together with Hakif Zejnullahu and Edmond Hoxha, carried out actions against the occupier even before the liberation war had begun. “Zahir Pajaziti, Edmond Hoxha and Hakif Zejnullahu were the call for the liberation and they gave an extraordinary impetus to the Liberation Army, increased the people's trust in the KLA, but also the people's self-confidence,” said Prime Minister Kurti.

Afterward, President Osmani and Prime Minister Kurti laid a wreath and paid homage at the tomb of the hero Zahir Pajaziti, at the “Zahir Pajaziti” Memorial Complex in Orllan, on the 25th anniversary of the fall.
