The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani commemorated the historic President of Kosovo Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, on his birthday.
President Osmani said that on each of his birthdays, we remember him with much longing and respect shown by the sons and daughters of the country show for the founding father of their state. But we also remember him as a a role model, a man extremely gentle in appearance and communication, but just as persistent and determined in his vision to realize the dream of generations, the dream to live free.
“As the president of the country, I will do my best to preserve and nurture his political heritage, the friendships he forged for us, especially with the United States of America, but also with EU countries and other democratic countries around the world”, said President Osmani.

Today is the birthday of the ideator of our independent Republic, the historic President of Kosovo, dr. Ibrahim Rugova.
On each of his birthdays, we remember him with much longing and respect shown by the sons and daughters of the country show for the founding father of their state. But we also remember him as a a role model, a man extremely gentle in appearance and communication, but just as persistent and determined in his vision to realize the dream of generations, the dream to live free..
Ibrahim Rugova, together with many men and women who gave everything for this country, incarnated deep in our souls the determination to gain freedom and to establish an independent state. Beyond this, he created and bequeathed to us the unique and insurmountable role model of the humanitarian politician, the extraordinary unifier of his people and the great unifier of others around the values of his country. He insisted that in order to achieve physical freedom, inner freedom had to be cultivated first of all, as the premise upon which we would bring freedom for ourselves and to others. He bequeathed to us bridges of friendship, which he created all over the globe, finally sealing the stable and permanent alliance of Albanians with democratic countries. These, as it is well known, helped Kosovo to finally touch the dream of living free, a dream that came true in 1999 after the Kosovo liberation war.
As the president of the country, I will do my best to further preserve and nurture his political heritage, the friendships he forged for us, especially with the United States of America, but also with EU countries and other democratic countries around the world.
