The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received today at a meeting
Kosovo's Ombudsman Mr. Naim Qelaj, the Albanian Ombudsman Mrs. Erinda Ballanca
and the Ombudsman of Northern Macedonia Mr. Naser Zyberi accompanied by the
Commissioner for Protection from Discrimination of the Republic of Albania Mr. Robert
Gajda.
At the meeting, President Osmani stressed that the protection of human rights and freedoms, as well as protection from discrimination of any kind, is an absolute priority of all institutions of the country. President Osmani encouraged ombudsmen from all three countries to increase cooperation in order to protect human rights and freedoms, a goal that knows no borders.
President Osmani stated that the trust of citizens in independent institutions is the foundation of democracy and at the same time a precondition for the development of the country. She also said that the Institution of the Ombudsman is of great importance for each state, as this institution not only handles citizens' complaints but also promotes human rights and freedoms.
