The President of Kosovo, Ms. Atifete Jahjaga met with former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Ms. Atifete Jahjaga, met today with former U.S. Secretary of State, Ms. Madeleine Albright, with whom she discussed the latest developments in Kosovo and the efforts to increase the new recognitions of the country.

President Jahjaga informed former Secretary Albright with the strategic goals of Kosovo for integration into the European Union and NATO and said that they are the best way to provide the framework within which the reforms will be undertaken and the continued democratic consolidation of Kosovo and the region.

President Jahjaga cited in particular the need for Kosovo to establish contractual relations with the EU and the North Atlantic Alliance through its program for Partnership for Peace.

She presented Ms. Albright with the idea to create the group “Friends of Kosovo”, which aims to raise the image of Kosovo and its promotion in the countries with whom Kosovo has no diplomatic relations.

Madam Madeleine Albright, while congratulating President Jahjaga for her work and leadership, said she remains a great and devoted friend of Kosovo.

She expressed the support for Kosovo and its clear path in the process of European integration. Former U.S. Secretary of State with said that Kosovo and the entire Western Balkan region are the only parts that fail to fulfill the vision of a united and free Europe.
