The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani Sadriu has commemorated the national hero Sali Çekaj, who fell 23 years ago on the battlefield of Koshare.

Today we remember the national her Sali Çekaj, who 23 years ago fell on the battlefield of Koshare.
Çekaj was one of the most prominent commanders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). Armed with the best features of the Albanian people, bravery, generosity, loyalty, love for the homeland, family and friends, he started the activity for the good of the homeland and the nation from an early age.
As early as 1981 he opposed the then Yugoslav regime, in the well-known demonstrations of that year. He then continued his political activity here and abroad. Together with Agim Ramadani and other comrades-in-arms, Sali joined the Kosovo Liberation Army where he distinguished himself as a military strategist.
The “Hero of Kosovo” Order and “Medal of Independence”, awarded by the first president of Kosovo Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, are the gratitude that our country has for its activist, Sali Çekaj.
