The Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo Dr. Jakup Krasniqi has issued today a statement on the Draft Report of Council of Europe’s Rapporteur, Dick Marty.
The statement reads:
I express my deep indignation at this absurd draft report, which abounds in pure fabrications, inexistent facts and assumptions unconfirmed by international justice.
The draft report is nothing else but a sequel to defamatory and irresponsible allegations contained in the book by the former Chief Prosecutor with the Hague International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia, Ms. Karla del Ponte. These allegations have been ruled out by the Hague International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia, which maintained that prosecutors had failed to collect grounded evidence to substantiate these allegations, and the former spokeswoman to the Chief Prosecutor del Ponte had called her allegations irresponsible and an encouragement to mixing facts with slanders and a bearing the risk of distortion of real events.
I express my strong resentment with the fact the Council of Europe has dared to supersede the Prosecution, which is far more specialised and in possession of more legal remedies to establish the significance of the collected evidence.
The draft report is bluntly biased and even contains racist statements, when it refers to “the structure of clans” in the Kosovo Albanian society and “the lack of a genuine civil society”.
The draft report represents attempts by certain circles to level up the fair and heroic fight waged by the people of Kosovo and its Liberation Army and massacres committed by Milosevic’s and Serbian regime. Attempts to mix victims with the hangmen cast a shade of doubt on the entire activity and impartiality of Council of Europe’s Rapporteur.
Ultimately, we welcome all legal and political initiatives taken both inside and outside of Kosovo to condemn these absurd and indecent defamations, which do not contribute to making the Balkan a region of peace, stability and safety.
