President's Chief of Staff, Blerim Vela, presented today the progress achieved by the Republic of Kosovo in implementing the commitments made by President Osmani during the Summit for Democracy organized by the President of the United States, Joe Biden.
Participants of the Focal Group organized by the US Department of State were representatives of 80 states that have made commitments in the field of strengthening of democracy during the Summit for Democracy.
Kosovo has made concrete commitments in areas such as: the fight against corruption, protection from authoritarianism and the advancement of human rights through diversity and inclusion.
Kosovo has also established the Council for Democracy and Human Rights within the Office of the President of the Republic to coordinate the implementation of commitments at the Summit for Democracy. “The commitment of our key institutions in this regard, including civil society, is a testament to the seriousness of the Republic of Kosovo in fulfilling the commitments issued at this summit by President Joe Biden, which are related to fighting corruption, protection from authoritarianism and the advancement of human rights “, stated President Osmani at the establishment of the Council.
