President Thaçi received at a meeting the Foreign Affairs Minister of Turkey, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu

Prishtina, October 19th – President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaaci, received today at a meeting the foreign affairs minister of Turkey, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, with whom he discussed the overall cooperation between the two countries.

President Thaçi thanked the Turkish minister for the support provided to the people and the state of Kosovo during all relevant periods.

The opportunities for the expansion of trade exchange between the two countries and possibilities for the augmentation of economic growth were also discussed at the meeting.

President Thaçi emphasized that Kosovo and Turkey have friendly relations and strategic cooperation and expressed his gratitude for the support that Turkey provides to the consolidation of the state of Kosovo around the world.

“Today Turkey is a faithful supporter of the strengthening of Kosovo’s international subjectivity, both in increasing of the number of recognitions and in membership in international organisations”, added the President.

According to Kosovo’s head of state, Kosovo appreciates the permanent support it receives from Turkey in all fields.

Speaking in relation to developments in the region, President Thaçi said that Kosovo is endeavouring to achieve a peaceful agreement with Serbia, which will in turn open the European perspective for both countries. “The agreement is in the interest of both countries” stated the President.

The foreign affairs minister of Turkey, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, said that Turkey supports the endeavours for sustainable peace in the region, as it does the endeavours to achieve an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia.

“We shall continue to support in every aspect the state and the people of Kosovo” said Minister Çavuşoğlu.

Issues of expansion of bilateral cooperation in the sectors of economy, defence and security were also discussed.
