The President of Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu returned today from his official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany. The First Lady Nezafete Sejdiu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Skënder Hyseni, the Minister of Finance and Economy Ahmet Shala, the Minister of Trade and Economy Lutfi Zharku and members of his Cabinet accompanied President Sejdiu during his visit to Germany, which took place upon an invitation extended by President Köhler.
The President of Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu returned today from his official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany. The First Lady Nezafete Sejdiu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Skënder Hyseni, the Minister of Finance and Economy Ahmet Shala, the Minister of Trade and Economy Lutfi Zharku and members of his Cabinet accompanied President Sejdiu during his visit to Germany, which took place upon an invitation extended by President Köhler.
In a press statement today at Prishtina Airport, President Sejdiu considered that the visit to the Federal Republic of Germany was very successful and important. “It was a visit of a special importance. There was an extraordinary reception, and the Federal Republic of Germany expressed its strong commitment to supporting Republic of Kosovo. This commitment was also reflected during the meetings with President Köhler, Chancellor Merkel, Minister of Foreign Affairs Guido Westerwelle and the President of Bundestag Norbert Lammert”, President Sejdiu said.
During his stay in the Federal Republic of Germany, President Sejdiu also met several German political officials and businessmen. “We also met representatives of the German business community i.e. the East German Economy and the German-Kosovar Business Association in Berlin, as well as other businesspersons”, Sejdiu affirmed.
President Sejdiu’s visit to the Federal Republic of Germany served to confirm the strong commitment of Germany to Kosovo and its independence.
“This visits took place owing to a strong commitment that is provided to Kosovo. You are aware of the clear position on Kosovo that Germany maintains and we were reassured of an u unequivocal support to the Republic of Kosovo, and we expressed our will, as it was recognized by the major world countries and at the International Court of Justice. Like the United States of America, France and the United Kingdom, the Federal Republic of German has maintained a clear position”, President Sejdiu asserted.
President Sejdiu also reminded that he has received assurances of a comprehensive support from Germany and of a lobbying by the German state leaders for the recognition of Kosovo by countries that have not recognized it yet.
“We also received assurances of a strong support for a further international recognition for the Republic of Kosovo by all the German friends on whom Germany may exert an influence and for an economic growth in our country”, President Sejdiu emphasized.
President Sejdiu also said that the visit to Germany served to indicate a new era of friendly relations with the Federal Republic of Germany, founded on a vast German investment for the best of our people in different periods.
