President Osmani: The Student Spring of 1981 was not a wave of protests, but a historical turning point that gave impetus to the movement for freedom and independence

Kosovo Republic! This was the call that rang out in the streets of Pristina and other cities in 1981, when students rose up as the voice of an oppressed people. The Student Spring was not simply a wave of protests, but a historical turning point that gave impetus to the movement for freedom and independence. The demonstrations of March and April were not just demands for better conditions, but a powerful call for dignity and national rights. The demonstrations were an act of courage that challenged the harsh Yugoslav regime and foreshadowed the long journey towards freedom and statehood. Those who took to the streets, who faced violence and repression, lit the flame of resistance, gave shape to the dream of a free Kosovo. Today, 44 years later, we remember and honor those students and demonstrators who, with their idealism and sacrifice, paved the way for the freedom we enjoy today.
