The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, received today the credentials from the first Ambassador of the state of Israel to the Republic of Kosovo, Tamar Ziv.
President Osmani recalled the friendly relations with the Israeli people even before the establishment of diplomatic relations.
“The people of Kosovo have opened their doors and hearts to the Jewish people in the most difficult days, and today, we stand ready to deepen cooperation in all areas, including economy, security, intelligence, health and education. Interstate cooperation will deepen further”, said President Osmani.
President Osmani described the memorialization of the victims of the Holocaust as a lesson that Kosovo can learn from Israel to commemorate the victims of the war and to consider the possibility of support and cooperation in this regard. This initiative was initiated by the President in cooperation with the Speaker of the Assembly of Israel (Knesset) during her term as Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo.
Whereas, Ambassador Ziv thanked President Osmani and the people of Kosovo for their support to the Jewish people in the darkest days until today, as well as the commitment to strengthen interstate relations, expressing readiness to deepen relations in all areas. The Ambassador mentioned the steps undertaken so far, including the deepening of cooperation in energy, culture, tourism, increasing trade exchanges, increasing inter-parliamentary cooperation and the memorialization of the war.
President Osmani requested the support of Israel in the diplomatic field, namely in gaining new recognitions and membership in international organizations and initiatives. In this regard, the President also requested that Israel permanently lift visas for Kosovo citizens, which would enable the growth of tourism from both countries.
