The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani received at a meeting the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, with whom she held a substantive discussion and confirmed the excellent interstate relations.
With Minister Çavuşoğlu President Osmani discussed bilateral cooperation in the fields of foreign policy, defense, trade and other areas of mutual interest.
President Osmani and Minister Çavuşoğlu also discussed current developments in the region and in Europe, with President Osmani emphasizing that the integration of the Western Balkans region into Euro-Atlantic structures prevents Russian influence in the region and the tendency for destabilization.
In this context, President Osmani reiterated the position that the membership of Kosovo and the region in Euro-Atlantic structures is a necessity.
“I highly appreciate the clear support of President Erdoğan for Kosovo's membership in NATO and other international organizations. “We need such support from Türkiye for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe,” said President Osmani at the meeting.
“Kosovo's relations with Türkiye are strategic and this country is among our main partners in NATO. “The Turkish community in Kosovo and the large Albanian diaspora in Türkiye are a strong bridge between the two countries,” said President Osmani.
According to President Osmani, the relations between the two countries have the potential for further expansion, especially in the field of investments, as well as by increasing Kosovo's exports to Türkiye.
