The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, on the second day of the Forum on Women, Peace and Security, reacted after the terrible news about the murder of a woman in Peja.
President Osmani said that unfortunately today we all woke up in the morning with the terrible news about the murder of a woman by her husband.
“This terrible phenomenon that is wounding our society and our country, this femicide which unfortunately has reached extraordinary proportions, must be stopped at all costs and the only way to stop it is if we all reawaken as society, as a state and as a nation. We must all re awake and stand up against this phenomenon, because we don’t have the lives of girls and women to lose”, said President Osmani.
Madam President has called on everybody, civil society activists, security and justice institutions, citizens, women and men together, to unite against gender-based violence.
“It is the duty of each one of us to fight this phenomenon and protect girls and women, and to protect all the citizens of our country”, stated President Osmani.
