The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, on the first day of her official visit to Estonia was received by her counterpart, Kersti Kaljulaid.
The two presidents praised the relations between Kosovo and Estonia and expressed their interest in further expansion of relations.
President Osmani thanked President Kaljualid for Estonia's support to Kosovo since independence. In this context, President Osmani mentioned the support that Estonia has provided to Kosovo at the International Court of Justice and also later in its participation in KFO peacekeeping mission.
“We aim to cultivate close relations with the Baltic countries, particularly with Estonia and we await its support in the process of visa liberalization, membership in international organizations and in Kosovo’s European path” said President Osmani. However, according to President Osmani, Kosovo and the Western Balkans region are facing the risk of Russian influence. She said that Kosovo is the most pro-European country which shares its values with Western democracies and asked for a speedy clarification of its EU integration path, as despite twice the regular number of criteria for visa liberalization, set for Kosovo, they have already all been met.
At the meeting with the Estonian President President Osmani stressed that Kosovo is interested in benefiting from Estonia's experience in the field of information technology, start-ups and e-government.
