The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, during her official visit to the Czech Republic, met with the Czech Prime Minister, Petr Fiala.
Both interlocutors appreciated the good interstate relations and committed to their further expansion.
At the meeting with Prime Minister Fiala, President Osmani emphasized the importance and role of Czech support for Kosovo during this time period. According to President Osmani, Kosovo expects progress in the European agenda and visa liberalization process, due to the fact that this country currently presides over the Council of the European Union.
President Osmani has asked for support that the liberalization of visas for Kosovo should definitely be part of the agenda in the coming months and that this process is completed during the presidency of the Czech Republic. Madam President emphasized that the non-liberalization of visas for the citizens of Kosovo is a great injustice that, in addition to denying our citizens the basic right of freedom of movement, at the same time damages the credibility of the EU throughout our region. She also said that the non-liberalization of visas has caused problems in the implementation of the SAA and other programs in which Kosovo participates.
President Osmani also asked for Czech support for membership in the Council of Europe, the Partnership for Peace followed by NATO membership.
According to President Osmani, membership in the CoE benefits all citizens of Kosovo without distinction and is in function of protection of human rights, while membership in the North Atlantic Alliance is necessary and in the function of peace and stability in Kosovo, in the region and across our continent.
President Osmani and Prime Minister Fiala also discussed the deepening of cooperation in several other spheres of mutual interest.
