Prishtina, September 17th, 2021 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani today received today at a meeting the European Union envoy for dialogue Mr. Miroslav Lajčák, with whom she discussed the dialogue process with Serbia.
President Osmani pointed out that the institutions of Kosovo are determined to continue with the dialogue, which should conclude with mutual recognition between the two countries, without affecting the constitutional order and the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
She emphasized that the Republic of Kosovo is a constructive party at the dialogue process which has offered concrete proposals and which has implemented the agreements reached so far unlike Serbia, which does not respect the agreements reached with the Republic of Kosovo.
Mr Lajčák said no one would ask Kosovo to negotiate its constitutionality, territorial integrity and its internal functionality.
Referring to recent developments in Montenegro and in Bosnia and Herzegovina, President Osmani raised her concern about Serbia's interference in the issues of internal regulation of the neighbouring countries, which is causing unrest and a new wave of instability in the region.
She stressed that Kosovo has constantly fallen prey to such tendencies for destabilization, but the fact that something similar is already happening in the surrounding countries is a call for the need for an immediate response by the European Union in terms of condemning and preventing such developments.
At the meeting, President Osmani also mentioned the visa liberalization process. ” The perception of Kosovo's citizens' of the dialogue is closely linked to the EU's determination to create a clear integration perspective. Furthermore, visa liberalization for Kosovo is vital in terms of EU credibility,” said President Osmani at today's meeting.
