The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, met with the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, as part of the meeting of the leaders of the countries participating in the Brdo-Brijuni Process, which is being held in Skopje.
At the meeting, President Osmani appreciated the partnership between the two countries, stressing that Kosovo remains grateful for Slovenia’s active role in supporting Kosovo’s European future.
In this context, President Osmani emphasized the need for further Slovenian support, adding that Kosovo’s state and strategic goal remains membership in the EU and NATO, but also other international organizations where the interests of Kosovo’s citizens will be advanced.
President Osmani and counterpart Pirc Musar also discussed the current developments in Kosovo and the region. According to President Osmani, the close cooperation between the two countries is effective in maintaining regional peace and stability, since Slovenia is an example for the implementation of the necessary reforms for membership in the Euro-Atlantic structures.
In relation to the dialogue with Serbia and the escalation of the situation in the country’s north, President Osmani underlined that Kosovo has taken substantive steps in this direction and will have a constructive attitude in the entire dialogue process. However, President Osmani added that the only way for long-term peace and stability is when the final result of the dialogue with Serbia is mutual recognition and preservation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty, constitutional order and institutional functionality of the Republic of Kosovo.
The interlocutors reaffirmed the commitment to continue deepening friendly relations and close cooperation between Kosovo and Slovenia. The two heads of state also discussed a wide range of topics, including increasing cooperation in the field of economy, empowering women and youth, the green agenda, etc.
