It is a great pleasure to be here in your midst today, together with the Ambassador of the United States of America, a great friend of Kosovo and also a powerful lobbyist for the women’s rights in general and especially the education of girls and offering of great opportunities to women and girls.
It is a pleasure to be here with you today and mark the International Girl-Child Day, a day which conveys the message of offering of equal opportunities, particularly in education and schooling of every girl worldwide. In recent times, we as a society, have through a large number of initiatives managed to, as a state and as institutions, contribute to the advancement of role of women in general as well as to the advancement of the role of girls.
Offering of equal opportunities to girls and boys, commencing with the family to continue with schooling period and everyday life, shows the level of development of a society. Such initiatives, as this one today, supported by the Embassy of the United States of America and USAID, are the best example of the support of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo for our future initiatives in advancing of the reforms in the field of education and in promotion of the role for girls of today, the women of tomorrow.
I always say that to invest in girls, to invest in women, investment which begins in the family, is the best investment which can be made to a society and a state, because as of today, as of this moment, the basics are being laid for you to become the largest contributors to our society and our state, To invest in 50 % of the society, and let us not forget, women represent fifty percent of the society not only in Kosovo but all around the world, is the smartest investment, as this leads to the development of a society and development of the state, and it is the best message given against poverty, against early marriages and domestic violence, as this is where the foundations are laid.
In all the desks here, the ones marked “Science”, “Lego Robot” and “Alice”, as well as in all other projects, I saw great potential. I am confident that I will be seeing you as future scientists in the field in which you presented here today. You are the future of our country and in every single one of you I see not only the grand contributors in society, but I also see you as the future leaders of our state.
