The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, after the visit to the municipality of Podujeva, visited today the municipality of Gjilan as well.
In a meeting with the Mayor of the municipality, Lutfi Haziri, President Jahjaga was informed about the situation in the municipality of Gjilan, with particular emphasis on the phenomenon of illegal migration of the citizens, which has affected this municipality as well, but which has marked decrease during the recent days.
President Atifete Jahjaga also talked with many citizens and listened to the stories about their condition, problems and troubles they have, for the reasons of the departure of many citizens from the country.
She also hereby reiterated that the road of escape is not an easy road, it is a road with many difficulties, an unguaranteed and uncertain road.
We as institutions have always given our entire commitment and dedication to work for the welfare of our citizens, for the construction of a better life of the citizens, to restore their confidence, in order to recover the dignity of our citizens, said President Jahjaga.
President Jahjaga added that this road of escape is not conveying a good message to the citizens, especially to the youth, which is the greatest wealth for our country. She said that particularly this road is made even more uncertain by the declarations of European Union member states that all citizens will be returned to Kosovo.
The road of escape is not a good road, it is not safe. The citizens must stay here. Their future is here and together with the local and central institutions to continue the further process of state-building. Only together we can achieve our goal, which is integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions, stressed President Jahjaga, addressing the people of Gjilan and of entire Kosovo.
