President Jahjaga, on the occasion of the holiday season, has granted subventions for the citizens in need in three municipalities – of Mitrovica, Peja and Prizren.
The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, visited Peja, in the framework of the visit to the centers which take care of the citizens in need. President Jahjaga, accompanied by the Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Mr. Arban Abrashi, first met with the Mayor of Peja, Mr. Gazmend Muhaxheri, with whom she talked about the current developments in the municipality and its development projects.
Mayor Muhaxheri informed the President about the activities, needs and challenges of the municipality of Peja, as well as on the projects for the development of agriculture and mountain tourism. He also spoke about the municipal care for the population in need.
President Jahjaga emphasized the need for institutional care for the certain categories in society and for the joint work on improving the welfare for all the citizens of Kosovo.
President Jahjaga, accompanied by Minister Abrashi, and the Mayor of Peja, Muhaxheri, visited two centers which take care especially for children and citizens in need, “Hands full of mercy” and the “Center for independent life”.
Together they also visited the neighborhood “7 September” in Peja, where, in difficult social conditions, live a number of citizens of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities.
After the visit, President Jahjaga gave a statement to the media, which we are publishing entirely:
Today I came here in the municipality of Peja, together with Minister Abrashi, and the Mayor of the municipality, Muhaxheri, to closely see our citizens who live in different neighborhoods, in person to see under what conditions they live in these neighborhoods. The second is to offer our institutional support to improve their lives, to return their identity and dignity, firstly as citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, as citizens of this city and of this part of our country.
We have intentionally chosen the holiday season to come and visit them. With this we convey the message of help and support. We as a nation have always been openharted, we have been solidary people. We know best that, in whatever conditions we have lived, during these past two decades, we have opened our hearts and the one we had for ourselves, we have divided for the neighbor as well. So, I request from our citizens, that, especially for these seasonal feasts, to open their hearts and help their citizens, their neighbors, because in this way we help our own country.

Therefore, with 3,000 euros the League of Invalids and the Civilian Victims of the War in Kosovo is subsidized – based in Mitrovica.
Furthermore, with the amount of 3,000 euros the Association “Hands full of mercy” is subsidized,with headquarters in Peja, with dedication for the families of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian neighborhood “7 September” in Peja, for whom this association cares.
The subvention of 3,000 euros is also allocated for the Humanitarian Association of the Parents of Persons with Mental Disabilities – Hadër, with headquarters in Prizren.
