President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia, Mr. Thomas Melia, who was accompanied by the US Ambassador to Kosovo, Mr. Greg Delawie and USAID Kosovo Mission Director, Mr. James Hope.
President Jahjaga thanked Assistant Administrator Melia for the continuous help of the USAID and the American people to the continuous development in Kosovo and strengthening of its institutions based on rule of law.
President Jahjaga stated that institutions of the Republic of Kosovo remain dedicated to the deepening of the partnership with USAID and praised the various programmes which USAID undertakes in relation to the rule of law and governance, its activities on augmentation of investments and private sector employment, as well as programmes aiming improvements in Kosovo’s human capital. Madam President also added that these programs have by now shown encouraging results thus turning Kosovo’s economic sectors into competitive ones.
USAID Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia, Mr. Thomas Melia, stated that USAID will continue its support and partnership with Kosovo through various programmes on sustainable economic development, democracy, governance and rule of law.
