President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the Defence Minister of the Republic of Italy, Mr. Mario Mauro, accompanied by the Ambassador of Italy to Kosovo, Mrs. Andreas Ferrarese, and KFOR Commander, General Salvatore Farina.
President Jahjaga highly praised the help which Italy has provided
and continues to provide for Kosovo at all stages, particularly
emphasizing the help provided through participation of the Italian
troupes within the NATO peacekeeping force, KFOR. Madam President stated
that KFOR continues to play an important role in securing of the peace
and stability in Kosovo as well as the whole region of the South-Eastern
Europe.
She also added that cooperation between Republic of
Kosovo and Republic of Italy is excellent and emphasized the need for
the expansion of this cooperation in all fields.

Jahjaga also said that Kosovo has achieved particular progress as a
state f all its citizens, regardless, and has also played an important
role as a promoter of good neighbourliness. She added that integration
of Kosovo in Euro-Atlantic structures is a priority of the institutions
of the country and that establishment of contractual relations with
NATO, through the Partnership for Peace, would help in securing the
stability of the country and of the whole region. Madam President added
that Italian help in the process of Euro-Atlantic integrations would
help Kosovo towards achievement of standards and fulfilment of required
criteria.

Mario Mauro, praised the achievements of Kosovo and emphasized the
dedication of Italy on supporting of the integrative processes of Kosovo
and the whole Balkans. He also expressed the dedication.
