The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, received today in a meeting the Director of the Peace Corps, Carrie Hessler-RADELET with collaborators, accompanied by the Ambassador of the USA in Prishtina, Tracey Ann Jacobson.
President Jahjaga expressed her appreciation for the decision of the American Peace Corps to expand its volunteers program in the Republic of Kosovo, making Kosovo the 140th place in the world where this organization operates.
During the meeting President Jahjaga has praised the successful conclusion of the intensive training program where 25 young American volunteers have learned about the Kosovar culture and tradition, have undergone intensive courses for local languages and have attended technical trainings. She emphasized that the contribution of these volunteers is very meaningful for those countries where they will work directly with children in schools, but also to strengthen relations between two people.
The Director of the Peace Corps Carrie Hessler-Radelet thanked President Jahjaga, the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and the citizens of the country for the warm reception that they have made for the Peace Corps program and the 25 American volunteers who are already established in many cities of Kosovo.
