President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the Chairwoman of the Central Electoral Commission, Ms. Valdete Daka, with whom she discussed the calling of early elections for the mayor of north Mitrovica.
Ms. Daka informed President Jahjaga with the organisational aspects and necessary preparations required in order for the early elections to proceed in proper manner.
President Jahjaga stated that the whole process of early elections for the post of Mayor of north Mitrovica must adhere to the laws of Kosovo, which prescribe the conditions and the manner of holding of early elections. She also added that all institutions mandated to ensure proper proceeding of the electoral process must be prepared accordingly, in order to obtain free and fair elections.
