President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting, the Ambassador of Japan in Vienna, also accredited to Kosovo on non-residential basis, Mr. Shigeo Iwatani, and the representative of “Stone for Peace” association, Mr. Michio Umemoto.
President Jahjaga and Ambassador Iwatani spoke about latest developments in Kosovo and expansion of the cooperation between Kosovo and Japan. Madam President thanked the Japanese Ambassador for the continuous support that Japan has provided and continues to provide for the Republic of Kosovo. She stated that the people of Kosovo consider Japan to be a great friend, emphasizing the importance of the further expansion of the cooperation in all fields of mutual interest. President Jahjaga also congratulated the representatives of the “Stone for Peace” association on their initiative to bring the Stone of Peace to Kosovo as well.
Japanese Ambassador, Mr. Shigeo Iwatani, thanked President Jahjaga for the reception and said that his visit to Kosovo is a good opportunity to document the positive developments in the country. He emphasized that his visit will also serve the further advancement of these positive developments, through expansion of the cooperation between our two countries in the field of economy and other important fields.
Representative of the “Stone for Peace” association, Mr. Michio Umemoto, expressed his pleasure at the opportunity for gifting of the Stone for Peace to Kosovo. He said that he is impressed by the force and will of the people of Kosovo towards rebuilding of the country, which demonstrates a successful developmental process that Kosovo is undertaking.
