President Jahjaga received Mr. Samuel Zbogar

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the EU Special Representative in Kosovo, Mr. Samuel Zbogar, with whom she discussed the local elections process in Kosovo, which, in accordance with the law in force, must be held no later than December 15th, while in accordance with the agreement reached in Brussels between the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mr. Hashim Thaçi and Prime Minister of Serbia, Mr. Ivica Dacic, elections in the four municipalities in the northern Kosovo, municipalities of Leposavic, Zubin Potok, Zvecan and northern Mitrovica, must be held in October this year.

President Jahjaga stated that municipal elections must be held at the same time on the whole territory of the Republic of Kosovo, as this would pass on the best message to all citizens, while on elections in the four northern municipalities of Kosovo, Madam President stated that engagement and support of OSCE is compulsory.
Mr. Zbogar expressed his opinion that elections must be free, fair and honest and should attract the participation of the largest possible number of citizens and promised a concrete engagement and support by OSCE.
In order to respect the agreement reached in Brussels, the only two dates, those of October 20th and 27th remain as possible dates for holding of municipal elections in the whole territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
