President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the Director General of the European Commission’s Enlargement Directorate, Mr. Christian Danielsson, accompanied by the EU’s Special Representative in Kosovo, with whom she discussed the European agenda of Republic of Kosovo, the Stabilisation-Association Agreement negotiations as well as the visa liberalisation process.
Madam President stated that advancement of the European agenda and the fulfilment of obligations related to this agenda is a priority of the institutions and the citizens of the country. She emphasized that the institutions of the country are dedicated to successfuly accomplish the SAA negotiations process and the addressing of all the criteria stemming from the visa liberalisation dialogue.
Mr. Christian Danielsson, Director General of the European Commission’s Enlargement Directorate, praised the achievements of Kosovo and stated that this is a very positive momentum which must be sustained. He also said that the SAA negotiations process is essential and that it must be concentrated upon identified priorities such as rule of law, democracy, governance, public administration reform and so on. Mr. Danielsson stated that there will be a greater focus this year upon the economic governance, in order for the country to realize its full developmental potential.
As far as the visa liberalisation process is concerned, Mr. Danielsson stated that there is strong interest on the outcome. He also said the European Commission will continue to support Kosovo on this process.
