President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, met today in Durrës with the President of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Bujar Nishani, the host of the 5th Summit of the Presidents of the countries of the South-Eastern Europe.
President Jahjaga congratulated President Nishani on the proper and democratic election process held in the Republic of Albania and the creation of the new government, stating that Albania is undertaking important steps in its path of European integrations. She also said that Kosovo and Albania are an example of regional cooperation and emphasized that the two countries must support each other on this all inclusive process.
Speaking in relation to the Summit of the Presidents of the South-Eastern Europe region, which will be held in Durrës this year, President Jahjaga said that presidents of the countries of the region have demonstrated that they are instigators of cooperation and good neighbourliness between participating countries.
President Jahjaga emphasized that Summit of the Presidents is an important forum and the leaders of the four participating countries have the means to influence the achievement of agreements between countries which instigate cooperation in various fields and in realisation of joint projects, which will help the European integration processes.
Madam President also added that Republic of Kosovo is playing an important role in the stability of the region and has become a promoter of good neighbourliness with all the countries of the region. She added that agreement reached with Serbia in the dialogue process facilitated by EU and supported by the USA, helps the normalisation of relations between the two independent countries, relax the relations in the region and expedite the journey of European integrations for all the states of South-Eastern Europe.
President Jahjaga also stated that the future of all the countries of the region is in EU and that all the countries must help each other in this common journey. Madam President emphasized that Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina must join the Summit of the Presidents as this would help the expansion of the regional cooperation and peace and stability.
President of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Bujar Nishani, congratulated President Jahjaga and the leadership of the institutions of Kosovo on the achievement of the agreement with Republic of Serbia, which helps in preservation of the peace and stability on the region. He added that Kosovo has achieved considerable advances in all fields and stated that relations between the two countries, Republic of Albania and Republic of Kosovo, are special and excellent. President Nishani added that partnership between two countries must be strengthened and consolidated through help and cooperation in various fields, including economy and investments.
President Nishani stated that Albania and Kosovo have a common path of economic and democratic development and of European integrations. He added that both countries have a clear European future together with the rest of the countries of South-Eastern Europe and emphasized that Republic of Albania support the EU integration of Kosovo, through fulfilment of determined standards and criteria.
President Nishani said that Kosovo enjoys and will continue to enjoy the full and unreserved support of the state of Albania in all processes.
The 5th Summit of the Presidents of Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia and Montenegro is being held in Durrës, Albania, this year.
