President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting a delegation of the Young Feminists Regional Forum 2013.
President Jahjaga stated at the meeting that Kosovo has made advances in regard of the respect for the rights of women and emphasized the importance of the empowering of the role of the women, with particular emphasis on the decision making processes.
President of the Republic said that Republic of Kosovo has a good legal framework on gender equality, in compliance with international standards, but added that laws must be implemented in practice, thus enabling the inclusion of women in all fields.
Representatives of the Young Feminists Regional Forum said that it is necessary for the law on pre-university level education to be implemented, in order for every single young girl to be able to enjoy the right for education and schooling. They also added that it is important for parents to be aware of the consequences of school drop out, particularly at pre university level of education.
Young Feminists asked for President Jahjaga’s support for the implementation of the 30 % quota for participation of women in decision making to the implemented in both local and central levels.
