The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, received today a delegation of the Montenegrin community in Kosovo, represented by Snežana Karadžić and Slobodan Vujičić, both heads of the two separate Leagues of the Kosovo Montenegrins.
The representatives of the Montenegrin community in Kosovo informed President Jahjaga about the commitment, work and problems faced by this community and stressed the need for its greater inclusion in the social and institutional life of Kosovo, at all levels. They said that the Montenegrin community living in Kosovo is integrated in the social life, but considered that its members need to preserve their identity and opening up greater opportunities in all fields.
President Jahjaga praised the integration of the Montenegrin community in the social life of Kosovo and stressed that this community is recognized by law like all the other communities in the country. She said that Kosovo is a state of equal citizens and that the citizens of the Montenegrin community also share the same perspective with all the citizens of the country, without distinction.
President Jahjaga stressed that efforts are being made so that the Montenegrin community together with the Croatian community, to be included in the Constitution of Kosovo. She requested from the representatives of the Montenegrin community to continue the representation in the Consultative Council for Communities, led by the President, and that through it to raise all the concerns, problems and needs they have.
