President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs Atifete Jahjaga, participated today at the official state ceremonies organised in Vlora and Tirana on the honour of the 100th anniversary of the declaration of Independence
President Jahjaga participated at the raising of the flag in Vlora; also present at this ceremony were the President of the Republic of Albania, Mr Bujar Nishani, Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, Mr Sali Berisha, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr Hashim Thaçi, Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr Jakup Krasniqi, as well as many other personalities from the political and cultural strata from lands in which Albanians reside.
Later on, President Jahjaga paid her respects and laid garlands of flowers at the tomb of Ismail Qemali.
As a sign of respect for the martyrs and all those who contributed towards independence, on this 100th anniversary, Madam President also laid garlands of flowers and paid homage at the “Mother Albania” Monument in Tirana.
As part of the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the declaration of Independence, President Jahjaga, together with Prime Ministers Berisha and Thaçi and with Mayor of Tirana Mr Lulzim Basha, sliced the Independence Cake, at the Scanderbeg Square in Tirana.
During the day, President Jahjaga attended the Parade of the Armed Forces, at the Scanderbeg square in Tirana.
