President Jahjaga met with the President elect of Honduras, Mr. Juan Orlando Hernández Alvarado

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, met today in Tegucigalpa with the President elect of the Republic of Honduras, Mr. Juan Orlando Hernández Alvarado. President Jahjaga is visiting Honduras upon an invitation of President Juan Orlando Hernández Alvarado to participate at the ceremony of the inauguration of the President, attended by a number of Presidents and other State representatives, mainly from countries of Southern and Central America.

President Jahjaga congratulated President Alvarado on his electoral victory and thanked him for the invitation to participate at the official inauguration ceremony.

She praised the good bilateral relations between the two countries and emphasized the importance of expansion of cooperation in various fields. President Jahjaga emphasized that Kosovo is an internationally recognised country, contributing to the regional peace and stability and is a promoter of good neighbourliness. She also stated that Kosovo is consolidating its international subjectivity and aims membership into EU, NATO and UN.

Madam President also added that Honduran help in relation to the independence recognition process, in particular with the countries of Central America, will provide a further impetus to the process of international consolidation of Kosovo’s statehood.

President of the Republic of Honduras, Mr. Juan Orlando Hernández Alvarado, thanked President Jahjaga for her participation at the Presidential inauguration ceremony and praised the relations between his country and Republic of Kosovo, and added that he is closely following all the developments in the South –Eastern Europe.

He also stated that Honduras will undertake all the required measures in order to help Kosovo’s progress and advancement of the recognition process with the countries of South America and international organisations.
