President Jahjaga met with the Ambassadors of the “Quint” States

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting Ambassadors and representatives of the United States of America, Germany, France, Italy and United Kingdom, accredited to Kosovo, to discuss the process of pre term parliamentary elections in Kosovo.

President Jahjaga informed the Ambassadors with her decision for the assignation of June the 8th as the date of holding of pre term parliamentary elections, after the all inclusive consultations with political parties and political subjects of Kosovo on finding of a suitable date in congruence with the legally prescribed time limits and which allows for the necessary preparations on holding of the elections in the country.

President Jahjaga emphasized the importance of a free, fair and democratic process required for the fulfilment of the European vision of Kosovo, and added that she has already conveyed an invitation to the High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Baroness Catherine Ashton, to send an election  monitoring mission.

President Jahjaga also encouraged the Embassies accredited in Kosovo to participate in monitoring of the elections, in order to ensure a transparent process and an all inclusive participation state wide.

Ambassadors of the Quint countries thanked President Jahjaga for her stance towards a fair electoral process and emphasized their dedication to help the realization of these objectives.
