President Jahjaga met with Prime Minister Thaçi and Coordinator Shala

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, met today at a meeting the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr Hashim Thaçi, accompanied by the Political coordinator for the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia, Mr. Blerim Shala.

Prime Minister and the Political coordinator informed Madam President with the proceedings of the seventh round of the dialogue process and for the expectations from the following meeting on April 2nd.

Prime Minister Thaçi said that the position of the Kosovar side is clear and that we have entered the dialogue process in order for this process to result as a successful one and for the purpose of achieving of agreements which are in the interest of all citizens, in the interest of peace and stability as well as in the interest of full normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, as two independent and sovereign states. The dialogue process is being undertaken in a constructive atmosphere under a very good leadership of Baroness Ashton, European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security.

Prime Minister stated that the dialogue process is facing certain hindrances and in order for it to successfully continue on 2nd of April, constructivism and willingness are a requirement, as well as mutual respect and understanding, which will help in overcoming of differences. This would be useful for the Republic of Kosovo, Republic of Serbia and European Union, and would benefit citizens and return to normality the rule of law and order.

President Jahjaga gave her support to Prime Minister Thaçi on the dialogue process being undertaken in Brussels with the mediation of European Union and which aims for the normalisation of relations between Republic of Kosovo and Republic of Serbia, which will in turn enable the free communication of the citizens and establishment of bilateral relations in the near future.

President Jahjaga emphasized that by now it is clear to everyone that dialogue is not being held for status issues and that all agreements are in harmony with the Constitution and the laws of the state of Kosovo, and help both countries towards their respective journeys of European integrations.
