President Jahjaga meets General John Allen, Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga received today General John Allen, the Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to counter ISIL which also includes the Republic of Kosovo.

President Jahjaga informed Mr. Allen about the actions undertaken by the Kosovo institutions and the security mechanisms to prevent and to deal with the global terrorist threats ISIL represents and other terrorist groups linked to it, including security measures and legislative ones set to make impossible the activities, the organization and whatever radical and extremist activity in Kosovo. President Jahjaga stressed that the early actions of the Kosovo institutions have turned Kosovo into an example for the approach to this phenomenon and a security challenge.

President Jahjaga expressed the determination and underlined the concrete efforts of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo for our country never to become havens of terrorist groups or source of extremism. She stressed the necessity for the coordination of actions and the close cooperation between the countries of the region in order to combat the phenomena which are threatening the stability and security of the country, of the region and beyond.

President Jahjaga has also been committed for the Kosovo institutions to be working intensively on the implementation of the recommendations arising from the various activities of the global coalition to counter ISIL which are related to the prevention and rehabilitation process.

General Allen praised Kosovo’s membership in the global coalition in the fight to counter ISIL and its participation in the Working Group of the Coalition for the distribution of opposing messages. General Allen and the President of the Republic of Kosovo agreed on the importance of the exchange of data and information to assist in stopping the wave of foreign fighters and discussed about a variety of ways on how to expand and deepen the approach towards communities which can be threatened by radicalization.
