President Jahjaga in an official state visit to Malta

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, began today her two day state visit to Malta.

President Jahjaga’s delegation also includes the Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms. Hykmete Bajrami, President of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Safet Gërxhaliu and President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo, Mr. Arian Zeka.

Presdient of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs .Atifete Jahjaga, was received by the President of Malta, Ms. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca at the Presidential Palace in Valletta.

President Jahjaga had a bilateral meeting with President Coleiro Preca, during which they discussed the areas of cooperation between the two countries.

President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca pointed out that Malta and Kosovo can potentially cooperate in economy, agriculture and services. She added that after her visit to Kosovo and President Jahjaga’s visit to Malta, relations between the two countries have intensified.

President Jahjaga said that Kosovo has a lot to offer in the fields of economy and services and that she is pleased that tomorrow, Kosovar and Maltese Chambers of Commerce will officially sign the memorandum of cooperation which will help businesses in both countries expand their commercial activities.

President Jahjaga asked for Malta’s help in the process of European integrations, to which Kosovo is dedicated, particularly as Malta will hold the EU presidency in the coming year.

President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca expressed Malta’s full support to Kosovo’s integration processes, including the visa liberalisation process and implementation of the Stabilisation-Association Agreement.

President Jahjaga also had a meeting with the Maltese Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. George Vella.

President Jahjaga expressed her appreciation for the support of the Maltese foreign policy to Kosovo’s initiatives for membership in international organisations.

President Jahjaga asked for further Maltese support to the process of recognitions.

Maltese Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. George Vella, stated that Kosovo enjoys complete support  by Malta in foreign affairs. He also added that Malta will support Kosovo on recognitions and membership in international organisations, with special emphasis in World Trade Organisations.
