President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, held today the end of the year reception for the representatives of the media which follow the activities of the President.
Madam President, on this occasion held a speech, which we are publishing below:
Honourable media representatives:
I am pleased to conclude this year in a meeting with you, as you have been a consistent part of the work of the institutions and you have followed every our step during each of our activities.
It is a custom to, at the end of the year receptions, to talk about achievements and of course, the challenges awaiting us in a near future. I would like to say that the year which we are leaving behind, 2013, for our state, for Kosovo, has been a good year, a successful year, a year in which new paths have opened for us and a year which has clarified our European path.
During the year which we are leaving behind, we have concluded and commenced important processes for our country, processes which contribute towards building of an all inclusive state. Also, we have entered into new relations with our neighbouring countries, relations which must be concluded with a final agreement, which must be implemented in fullness and in detail.
During this year, we have also commenced essential reforms for our state and our society, reforms which will help us to continue the democratisation of our society, reforms which will help the general development of our state and society. These reforms and the incessant work in standard implementation will by all means result with our free movement in the countries of European Union. And this is the work ahead of us. A lot of work in the coming year.
I believe that we have the courage and the strength to undertake this. As this is in the interest of our society, in the interest of general development of our state.
In the end, please allow me to wish you a prosperous New Year, in good health and wellbeing.
A Happy New Year!
