President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, took part today at the beginning of construction work on the new building of the Embassy of the United States of America in Prishtina, The ceremony organised for the occasion by the US Embassy, was also attended by a number of representatives of the institutions of Kosovo and representatives of other foreign embassies in Prishtina.
In an address held for the occasion, President Jahjaga said:

Honourable Speaker of the Parliament Mr. Veseli,
Honourable representatives of the institutions of Kosovo,
Honourable US Ambassador, Ms. Jacobson,
Honourable participants,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have the honour and the privilege to, together with you, lay the foundations of the Embassy of the United States of America in the Republic of Kosovo
This moment marks the beginning of building of your permanent home in Kosovo, in our young civic state, whose citizens are eternally grateful and appreciative for the brave and historic role you played in making Kosovo a state.
We have together travelled a long road. You remained alongside with us during the most challenging moments of the last century, and jointly we opened a new chapter of hope and optimism in the beginning of this century to finalize and crown our endeavours for Kosovo a state of all its citizens seven years ago.
Citizens of Kosovo found in United States of America the support and trust needed for realization of their vision freedom, independence and democracy. Despite many difficulties, our common will triumphed against the evil, and today, as two nations which share the fundamental values and ideals of democracy, we are marking another new beginning- establishment of your permanent residence as a symbol of permanence.
Našli smo u vama najodanije podržavaoce Kosova, sastavljenog od raziličitih etničikih grupa i religija, poput jednog mozaika. Ja vam zahvaljujem što ste verovali da može i bili uporni da stvorite Kosovo koje je drugačije nego što je bilo. Da Kosovo bude mesto jednakih mogućnosti i da bude naš zajedički dom.
Uz vašu podršku mi smo izgradili mostove saradnje i poboljšali odnose koji su se pogoršali za vreme poslednjeg rata. Mi smo svesni da naš trud da se, kao većina, staramo za ostale skupine Kosovo treba da se nastavi i mi nepokolebivo stojimo iza toga. Kosovo i njeni građani žele da stvore stabilnu budućnost u kojoj svaki građanin nosi svoj deo odgovornosti i deli privilegije.

Është nder dhe privilegj i madh të qëndrosh në këtë ceremoni historike e cila shenon fillimin e ndërtimit të shtëpisë së Amerikës në Republikën e Kosovës.
Është posaqërisht emocionuese të jesh dëshmitar i kësaj dite, sepse kjo ditë, disave nga ne, në ato orë të zymta të historisë sonë të re u dukej aq e largët. Pothuajse e pa mendueshme.
Por, ja ku jemi sot. Ëndrrat bëhen realited dhe sot ne qëndrojmë të bashkuar dhe shënojmë një fillim të ri, një arritje të re të miqësisë dhe partneritetit tonë- një adresë të përhershme në vendin në të cilin ju donë aq shumë dhe ku kontributi juaj është aq i mirëseardhur. Një simbol i përhershmërisë, i pakthyeshmërisë.
Në këtë ditë të rëndësishme për vendin tim, ne i gëzohemi partneritetit tonë të vlefshëm me ju dhe forcimit të mëtejmë të lidhjeve të miqësisë sonë.
