The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Madam Atifete Jahjaga, met today with the Vice President of the Republic of Iraq, Mr. Ayad Allawi, with whom she discussed about the establishment of bilateral relations between the two countries.
President Jahjaga said that since its declaration of independence, Kosovo is consolidating the internal democracy and is transformed into an important factor of peace and stability not only in the region of Southeastern Europe and also a promoter of good neighborliness. She said that the international consolidation of the country and the recognition of Kosovo in international organizations and institutions has an particular importance and stressed the need of the alignment of Iraq alongside all those countries that have recognized Kosovo’s independence.
President Jahjaga and Vice President Allawi stressed the necessity of the continuation of the mutual communication which would help also in understanding the reality from more closely.
The Vice President of the Republic of Iraq, Mr. Ayad Allawi, stressed that his country is closely following all the developments in Kosovo and said that the recognition of its independence is a matter of time. The Iraqi Vice President agreed with President Jahjaga about the importance of the exchange of visits and contacts of various levels of both countries as well as the exchange of experiences in state building.
President Jahjaga is visiting Jordan, where she is participating in the World Economic Forum, at the invitation of King Abdullah of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
During the day, in the framework of the Forum, President Jahjaha also met with former British Prime Minister, Mr. Gordon Brown and Professor Klaus Schwab, founder and chairman of the World Economic Forum, with whom she has discussed about the issue of two and multilateral cooperation with Kosovo in the field of economy.
