PRESIDENT SEJDIU’S SPEECH HELD DURING THE CEREMONY OF UNVEILING PRESIDENT CLINTON’S STATUTE IN PRISHTINA

We are convinced that we will never lack Your support in our efforts to accomplish this objective, like we never did so far, neither at the times of our great Movement for freedom, democracy and independence, which was led by Kosovo’s historic President, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, nor at the times of KLA liberation war, nor at present, in our great battle for developing an independent, sovereign and democratic Kosovo.

Sejdiu: We are regaining our identity, stronger than ever

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Dr Fatmir Sejdiu held his annual lecture to the students of the University of Prishtina. The lecture was held in the Amphitheatre of the Faculty of Law and the topic was “Kosovo, current developments, challenges and perspective”. Below you may read the entire transcript of the lecture:

Sejdiu: The whole world will turn its attention to Kosovo on November 15

“On November 15, the day of first elections to be held in an independent Kosovo, the whole world will turn its attention to Kosovo. This is the best chance for Kosovo to prove that it is able to conduct its first elections as a sovereign and democratic country in the best way possible” – President Sejdiu said at a meeting today with representatives of the International Monitoring Mission for the 2009 Local Elections in Kosovo, led by Mr. Darko Aleksov, Head of Mission.

Sejdiu: Bulgaria – a model country for integration

“Republic of Kosovo is committed to strengthening the current good relations and broad cooperation with the Republic of Kosovo” – the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu said at a meeting today with Bulgaria’s newly-appointed Ambassador to our country, Mr. Krasimir Tulechki, who presented his credentials of accreditation as an ambassador.

Sejdiu: Ukë did his utmost for the best of his country

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu, participated in the ceremony commemorating Ukë Bytyqi and in the ceremony of unveiling Ukë Bytyqi’s monument in the village of Semetisht. He placed a wreath of fresh followers on his statue and on Theranda martyrs’ monument. President Sejdiu handed the Golden Medal of Independence, with which President Rugova had decorated Ukë Bytyqi, to Bytyqi family.

The President of France Nicolas Sarkozy sent a letter to President Sejdiu

The President of the Republic of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, sent a letter to the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu, expressing his acknowledgment for the progress that has been made in the Republic of Kosovo and stating that this progress has contributed to Kosovo’s recognition by international community.
