President Osmani commemorates the anniversary of the massacre in Stagovë, Kaçanik

On May 21st 1999, Serbian forces of the Serbian genocidal regime brutally killed 13 civilians in Stagovë, Kaçanik, including 7-year-old Fitim Gudaqi. In defense of the civilians, KLA member Ekrem Gudaqi also fell a martyr. This massacre, one of the most horrific in Kosovo, was investigated by the Hague Tribunal, but no one was convicted. Serbian paramilitaries destroyed over 90 houses out of 180 in the village and killed the livestock. This day remains a symbol of pain and resistance. May the memory of the martyrs and those who sacrificed themselves for freedom be eternal!
President Vjosa Osmani arrives in Switzerland for a state visit
President Osmani departed on a state visit to Switzerland at the invitation of President Keller-Sutter

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani and the First Gentleman Prindon Sadriu, at the invitation of the Swiss Federal Council- led by the President of the Swiss Confederation, Mrs. Karin Keller-Sutter, have travelled to Switzerland, on the first state visit of a Kosovo head of state to this country. The visit will be carried out within the framework of excellent interstate relations and will aim to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between Kosovo and Switzerland. State visits are the highest level of visits, hence this visit this marks a historic moment in Kosovo-Switzerland relations. A reception with state honors will be held at the official Lohn Residence as well as a working lunch, where President Osmani and the First Gentleman Mr. Prindon Sadriu, will be received with highest state honours by President Keller-Sutter and the First gentleman, Morten Keller. Afterwards, at Bundesplatz, Bern’s central square, a state welcome ceremony with military honours will be held, where, President Osmani and President Keller-Sutter will have the opportunity to greet numerous citizens who will participate in this symbolic moment of friendship between the two countries. The program of the visit will continue with the state ceremony at the Swiss Parliament, where President Osmani will deliver a special speech before representatives of Swiss institutions. Also, during her stay in Bern, President Osmani will hold separate meetings with leaders of federal institutions. In St. Gallen, President Osmani and her counterpart Keller-Sutter will visit the SQUARE innovation centre of the University of St. Gallen. Meanwhile, in Geneva, President Osmani will participate in an event on the political legacy of Martti Ahtisaari, jointly organized by the Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation, the Permanent Mission of Finland in Geneva, the international organization Interpeace and the Geneva Graduate Institute. During her stay in Geneva, President Osmani will have a meeting with the Albanian diaspora.
New members of the Central Election Commission swear in the oath in front of President Osmani

The new members of the Central Election Commission, proposed by the political parties represented in the Assembly of Kosovo, swore the oath today in front of the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani. During the ceremony, the new members pledged to perform their duties with honesty, loyalty, impartiality, professionalism and responsibility.
President Osmani received the KFOR Commander, Major General Enrico Barduani

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today the KFOR Commander, Major General Enrico Barduani, as part of regular meetings on strategic cooperation between Kosovo institutions and the NATO mission. President Osmani highlighted the current security challenges in Kosovo, with particular emphasis on border security and the necessity to prevent and repel any destabilization efforts by Serbia. Madam President further noted the importance of continued cooperation and mutual engagement. Madam President and the KFOR Commander reaffirmed their shared commitment to continued cooperation in accordance with the NATO mandate and the joint interest in peace and stability in the region.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, together with the Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, co-chaired the leaders’ round table on the topic of “An Open Europe with Secure Borders”, at the sixth summit of leaders of the European Political Community (EPC), which was held yesterday in Tirana. President Osmani wrote: Kosovo and Croatia led yesterday the highest-level European discussion on migration challenges, mobility, and youth empowerment. Together with the Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, we co-chaired the leaders’ round table on the topic of “An Open Europe with Secure Borders”. While the challenges may differ from country to country, one thing was clear: ensuring security and upholding the rule of law remain key to sound policies and long-term solutions.

We discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations between our two countries, Belgium’s continued support for Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic integration, the security situation in the region, and the importance of lifting unjust measures against our citizens.
