Today is a historic day, a day of happiness for all of us, for all our friends, because as of today, for all eternity, in the main square of Prishtina, the capital of the Republic of Kosovo, the statue of the President Dr. Ibrahim Rugova will proudly stand, as a momentum to all of us of the labouring of this intellectual, this activist, this statesman, this visionary, who through his love for his fatherland, his unshakeable dedication, built a political platform for our state, Republic of Kosovo, a sovereign and independent state, thus making us a free, dignified and an equal nation, returning to our roots, the family of the European civilisation.

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting a delegation of the European Affairs Committee of the Danish Parliament, led by Ms. Eva Kjer Hansen.
Baroness Catherine Ashton wrote to President Jahjaga
European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Baroness Catherine Ashton, sent a letter to the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, to officially inform her about the dispatch of the EU Monitoring mission, which will observe the municipal elections which are due to be held in the Republic of Kosovo on November 3rd, 2013.

We are gathered here in grief to commemorate and to remember a devoted member of the European Union’s rule of law mission in Kosovo, a dear colleague and to many of you, a close friend. As the President of Kosovo, I am here to pay tribute to Audrius’s dedication and to convey the support of Kosovo’s citizens to the commitment of the members of EULEX to see that the rule of law prevails in the whole of Kosovo. We are all very saddened by this unfortunate loss and I want you to know that in this tragic moment we stand by each other and we will continue to stand in unity.
