They also discussed the further strengthening of bilateral relations, economic cooperation and the strengthening of Kosovo’s position in the international arena. President Osmani confirmed Kosovo’s readiness for extensive cooperation with Chancellor Merz’s Government. Furthermore, President Osmani praised Germany’s vital role in protecting democratic values, transatlantic unity and European security. President Osmani underlined that Germany has been and remains a strategic pillar to Kosovo in maintaining regional stability, as well as advancing Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic path. Madam President requested Berlin’s continued support for Kosovo’s full international integration, and in particular in the Council of Europe, recognizing Germany’s role in the Council and the importance of this process to the strengthening of democratic institutions and protection of human rights. Madam President expresses her utmost regret for the tragic loss of life of three citizens in the serious murder committed in Gjilan and conveys her most sincere condolences to the families of the victims. Madam President also requests from the competent bodies that the perpetrators of this macabre act be caught as soon as possible and brought to justice, to face full legal responsibility. It is regrettable that last year the same were released by the justice institutions, after a short time spent in detention, despite the serious crimes for which they were accused. The manipulation with the aim of misinforming public opinion, using random photographs taken in public spaces that the perpetrator of these crimes had taken with a number of public figures, is also worrying. A simple investigation shows that these photographs were taken during a festive event organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Albania to Kosovo, on the occasion of a public activity attended by other institutional representatives, political figures, other guests and citizens. Within a year, the President is photographed with thousands of citizens and participants in public activities, whom she neither knows nor can know what their activity is. Therefore, the allusions to alleged “association” are nothing more than slander. Madam President once again calls on the law enforcement and justice authorities to act in accordance with the law, so that the perpetrator receives the deserved punishment.

President Osmani reiterated that the Republic of Türkiye remains an important ally of Kosovo, expressing at the same time the gratitude for its continued support to the Euro-Atlantic endeavors of our country. Madam President emphasized that NATO membership remains the strategic priority of the Republic of Kosovo and that cooperation with Türkiye in this regard is essential. At the meeting, President Osmani emphasized the need to advance Kosovo’s European integration process, and stressed the importance of the lifting of the unjust measures that are mostly affecting the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo. The discussion also addressed the process of establishing the Assembly and other institutions, as well as the importance of these institutions functioning democratically to advance common objectives. Madam President also addressed the issue of arbitrary arrests of Kosovo citizens by Serbia, requesting the engagement of the international community so that Serbia can stop these illegal acts against Kosovo citizens. President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo remains committed to its European path and is fundamentally oriented towards democratic reforms, which should be rewarded with concrete steps by the European Union. President Osmani further underlined the importance of Kosovo’s integration into international organizations, with particular emphasis on the Council of Europe, as well as other important organizations. President Osmani received today a letter from the President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump, in which he thanked her for her commitment and friendship towards the United States, her courageous leadership and expressed his desire to deepen this cooperation in the years to come. In the letter, the US President writes that the decision to accept citizens from other countries shows Kosovo’s strong willingness to cooperate with the United States of America, adding that the leadership on this issue shows the strength and compassion of the people of Kosovo. “The United States and Kosovo share a deep bond, based on mutual respect, shared democratic values, and a vision for a peaceful and prosperous future. Your commitment to strengthening this bond has not gone unnoticed, and I am confident that together we will continue to advance our shared goals,” emphasizes President Trump in his letter. Thanking Madam President for her engagements towards strengthening of the partnership with the United States, President Trump also adds: “I thank you again for your courageous leadership and for standing as a true friend of the United States.
