The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, held a meeting today with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, and the Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel. The trilateral meeting focused on the current political and security situation in the country, strengthening of trilateral relations, fostering cooperation and discussing key areas of common interest. President Osmani thanked both Netherlands and Luxembourg for their support in the visa liberalization process for Kosovo and underlined the common values and goals that bind the three European countries together. Furthermore, President Osmani emphasized that Kosovo’s application for membership in the Council of Europe and the EU are a strategic orientation and stated the need for support and acceleration of Kosovo’s membership in these two organizations. Part of the discussion with the two prime ministers focused on the current security situation in the north of the country. President Osmani said that Kosovo has demonstrated the will for de-escalation, by offering to organize new elections in the north of the country and that the establishment of law and order is in line with the investment over the years of the EU states in order to promote and protect the rule of law throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. At the meeting, President Osmani expressed the commitment of Kosovo’s institutions to overcome challenges together with partners and allies. In this context, President Osmani emphasized that the attacks on Kosovo Police, EULEX, KFOR, citizens and journalists by illegal and criminal structures in the north of the country should not go unpunished. In relation to the dialogue process with Serbia, President Osmani stated that Kosovo continues to be a constructive party while Serbia refuses to implement the agreements reached and contravenes the last Brussels agreement reached in Ohrid. President Osmani and Prime Ministers Rutte and Bettel also discussed the possibilities in increasing of bilateral cooperation in various areas of common interest. President Osmani’s meeting with Prime Ministers Rutte and Bettel concluded with the reconfirmation of the joint commitment to the advancement of cooperation and promotion of peace and stability in the region and beyond.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, received today in a farewell meeting the non-resident ambassador of Ireland to Kosovo Ronan Gargan, whom she thanked for his engagement to date during his tenure as the non-resident ambassador to Kosovo and at the same time wished him success in his future engagements. At the meeting with Ambassador Gargan, President Osmani thanked the state of Ireland for the continuous support it has given to Kosovo from the post-war period to date. President Osmani emphasized the need for the continuation of the support by Ireland in the process of the Council of Europe membership as well as membership in the EU and in other international organizations. According to President Osmani, membership in the Council of Europe is for the benefit of guaranteeing and respecting the rights of all citizens, without distinction. President Osmani also exchanged views with Ambassador Gargan on the latest political and security developments in the country. President Osmani stated that Kosovo is committed to the implementation of legality in the entire territory of the country as well as to peace and stability, and that it will overcome challenges together with partners and allies. Ambassador Gargan expressed his sincere gratitude for the cooperation with Kosovo and at the same time expressed the willingness of the Irish state to continue cooperation in new projects through which they would offer their expertise in the field of European integration.
President Osmani awarded the Presidential Military Medal to the US military leaders within KFOR
On the occasion of the end of their mandate, the President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani awarded the Presidential Military Medal to the Colonel Chris M Mabis and Lieutenant Colonel Jared B. Sheets, for their leadership and extraordinary efforts in guaranteeing security, peace and freedom of movement to all citizens of Kosovo, during their service within the KFO peacekeeping force in Kosovo. She also bestowed a Presidential Appreciation to Lieutenant Ryann Laky of the Indiana National Guard Headquarters, for her contribution to liaising and cooperation with the Kosovo police as well as the empowerment of women in the security sector. After expressing her gratitude to the three American soldiers and to all KFOR soldiers for their engagement to the guaranteeing of the safety and freedom of movement to all the citizens of Kosovo, even risking their lives, President Osmani emphasized that their leadership has played essential role in maintaining peace and stability in Kosovo and in the region at a very sensitive time. “The people of Kosovo are forever grateful to the irreplaceable and precious contribution of the US Army and other allied armies to peace and stability. Our relations with the USA are existential and we will not cease engaging to further strengthen the strategic relations between the Republic of Kosovo and the United States of America,” emphasized President Osmani at the ceremony. The US officers thanked President Osmani for the honor, expressing the hope that peace and stability will be remain long-term in Kosovo, as will the relations with the USA.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, is participating in the Summit of the Heads of States of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), which is being held in Podgorica. “Along with other Southeastern European leaders and representatives, I am in Podgorica to reaffirm Kosovo’s ongoing efforts for lasting peace and stability, as well as our commitment to a more secure future within the Euro-Atlantic institutions. I congratulate Montenegro and President Jakov Milatović for the successful chairmanship of this year’s South-East European Cooperation Process”, wrote President Osmani.
President Osmani participates in the South-East European Cooperation Summit
The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, travelled to Podgorica, Montenegro, to participate in the Summit of the Heads of States of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP). In this Summit, President Osmani will join the heads of 13 countries to discuss deepening cooperation between the regional countries and international partners for accelerating the European perspective of the region, guaranteeing peace, security and stability in the region, as well as promoting economic cooperation and sustainable development.
President Osmani received Governator of the State of Iowa, Kim Reynolds
After the official reception ceremony, President Osmani and Governor Reynolds held a joint meeting. Meanwhile, after the meeting, President Osmani and Governor Reynolds signed the agreement on the relationship of sister states and cooperation between the Republic of Kosovo and the State of Iowa (United States). After signing the agreement, President Osmani and Governor Reynolds spoke to the media. President Osmani first expressed her heartfelt thanks for all the work done by the United States of America for the release of the three police officers of the Republic of Kosovo. “Before I continue, let me first express my heartfelt gratitude for all the work that the United States of America has done for the release of the three police officers of the Republic of Kosovo, who were being held hostage after the act of aggression that Serbia committed to the Republic of Kosovo, and now they are free and are returning to the Republic of Kosovo and to their families”, said President Osmani. President Osmani once again expressed her condolences to the families and friends of the citizens who lost their lives as a result of the floods in Peja. “As you know, the Kosovo Security Force and other emergency institutions immediately offered their unreserved assistance and support. In these tragic moments for the citizens of Peja, support and assistance must continue, so that the municipality of Peja and its citizens can cope with this serious situation and recover from this tragic event that has shocked all the people of Kosovo”, President Osmani stressed. President Osmani announced that in the meeting with Governor Reynolds, they discussed the bilateral relations over the years, and the areas in which they will work to further deepen our cooperation and partnership, which is growing every day. Today, with the signing of the Agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the State of Iowa, the President said that we proved once again our commitment to open new chapters of bilateral cooperation. “This agreement will play a vital role in the development of cooperation in various fields of mutual interest, including education, culture, tourism, agriculture and trade, and the field of energy, and will create instruments for increased coordination between our two countries in the field of defence as well, a cooperation that has been essential between the Kosovo Security Force and the Iowa National Guard. But above all, the agreement signed today will pave the way for direct rapprochement and direct benefits for our citizens”, the President emphasized. President Osmani further said that, for the Republic of Kosovo, the alliance with the United States continues to remain existential, “Our citizens are the most pro-American people in the world, therefore, as I expressed to Governor Reynolds earlier, in Kosovo you will always find dedicated friends and partners”. The President emphasized that the bilateral relations between Kosovo and the United States are rooted in common values and in our commitment to democracy, rule of law, as well as peace, security and lasting stability in the country and region. “The determination of our American allies for the cause of Kosovo has been indispensable in our journey towards freedom, independence and state building and today, in our daily efforts for economic growth as well as for membership in the Euro-Atlantic institutions. Therefore, we consider the international strengthening of the Republic, as well as the fulfilment of our state priority, which is NATO and EU membership, possible only with the support of and together with strategic ally forces, such as our partners in the United States of America. In this regard, the Iowa State Partnership Program continues to be extremely important in developing and increasing the capacities of our Security Force, in accordance with our state objectives and aspirations for NATO membership,” the President emphasized. The President said that we are deeply grateful for the hundreds of men and women of the Iowa National Guard, who have served in Kosovo throughout the years as members of KFOR. President Osmani and Governor Reynolds also discussed the latest developments in the field of security and overcoming the challenges facing our country and region. “As always, Kosovo is fully committed to long-term peace and stability in the country and the region in full coordination with our allies,” the President asserted. In the end, President Osmani thanked Governor Reynolds for her visit to the Republic of Kosovo and for her unwavering support to the people of Kosovo and our country.
