President Osmani commemorated the massacres in Celina, Fortesë and Brestoc in Rahovec

25 years ago, the forces of the Serbian genocidal regime, in an offensive aimed at ethnic cleansing of the Rahovec villages, killed 75 civilians in Celina, 68 in Fortesë and 49 in Brestoc. On this day, in Brestoc, in defense of the civilian population, five KLA fighters also died, while 6 residents are still forcibly missing. Today we respectfully commemorate all the martyrs of these massacres, as well as those who fell on the altar of freedom. Justice for the victims and remembrance for the heroes are our incessant obligation!  

Commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Kotlina Massacre

At the commemorative event held on the 25th anniversary of the Kotlina Massacre, attended on behalf of the President of the Republic of Kosovo Mrs. Vjosa Osmani Sadriu by the military advisor, Brigadier General Sefer Isufi, who paid homage and placed flowers at the martyrs’ cemetery. In his address to the audience on behalf of President Osmani, General Isufi said that on March 24th, 1999, the forces of the Serbian genocidal regime , killed and massacred 14 citizens in the village of Kotlina, while in defense of the population 11 KLA fighters were killed that day. According to him, 25 years later, the call for justice is strong and continuous from the country’s freedom-loving and peace-loving institutions and citizens. “Freedom and peace only make sense when perpetrators and those responsible are brought to justice! The massacre in Kotlina is our constant pain, historical memory and sacrifice for the freedom of the country”, stated General Isufi.

The President: Justice must be served for lawyer Bajram Kelmendi and his sons

Twenty-five years ago, Kosovo lost the human rights fighter, lawyer Bajram Kelmendi and his two sons, Kastriot and Kushtrim. A day after they were kidnapped from their home by the forces of the Milosevic’s genocidal regime, they were brutally executed. On this anniversary, we reaffirm our commitment to bringing the perpetrators of the crime to justice for the murder of lawyer Kelmendi and his sons. He spent a whole life in defense and search for justice, and for this reason we owe it to bring him justice. The activities of lawyer Kelmendi remain a precious heritage for us and for the coming generations. May the memory of Bajram Kelmendi and his two sons be eternal!  

On the occasion of the untimely death of Triumf Ferati, President Osmani conveyed her condolences to the Ferati family

The untimely loss of Triumf Ferati, the son of the late Fadil Ferati, former mayor of the municipality of Istog, as well as the brother of the current mayor Ilir Ferati, has shocked us all. I express my deepest condolences to Triumf’s family, relatives and friends! At these terribly difficult moments for the family, I sympathize with you and hope you find strength in coping with the pain by remembering the unforgettable moments you had together with Triumfi. May his soul rest in peace! May the memory of the Triumf be eternal!

President Osmani commemorated activists Latif Berisha and Agim Hajrizi

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani commemorated the two prominent humanitarians, Latif Berisha and Agim Hajrizi, on the 25th anniversary of their assassination. Madam President’s full commemorative note: 25 years ago, the forces of the Serbian genocidal regime brutally killed two prominent humanitarians, writer and intellectual Latif Berisha and the tireless trade union activist Agim Hajrizi, along with his mother and his son. Their steadfast commitment and sacrifice embodied the noblest ideals of our cause and aspiration for freedom and independence. Their work will always be remembered and will be a guide and inspiration for generations to come. Eternal rembembrace for all those who fell for freedom!

The President: The Epopee of Dukagjin is one of the most heroic chapters of the Kosovo Liberation Army war for freedom

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani commemorated the 26th anniversary of the Epopee of Dukagjin. Madam President’s full commemorative note: The Epopee of Dukagjin is one of the most heroic chapters of the Kosovo Liberation Army war for freedom. 26 years ago, the forces of the Serbian genocidal regime attacked Gllogjan, where they faced unparalleled resistance from the Haradinaj family. Martyrs Hime Haradinaj, Gazmend and Agron Mehmetaj gained eternity on this day, becoming our eternal heroes. This Epopee coincides with the beginning of the NATO bombings against the targets of the Serbian genocidal regime and is evidence that our allies also made a great contribution to our freedom. Eternal tribute to all the KLA heroes as well as to our steadfast allies who stood by us in fulfilling our dream of freedom and state.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani, has laid flowers on the bust of former secretary Madeleine Albright, in honor of her life and work on the second anniversary of her passing away. “Her legacy is etched not just in the pages of our history but in the very fabric of our country. We will forever remember her relentless contribution to our freedom and democracy”, wrote President Osmani.
